| WE
SEEK TO BE SCRIPTURAL |
|
|
The first
and most important element of worshiping God is that it
be Scriptural. We believe the Bible should regulate each
part of our devotion and activity during worship,
whether public or private. God has revealed in His Word
how He is pleased to be worshipped. For this reason, we
do not put forth drama, puppets, movie clips, or
entertainment-based music, as is the current trend in
many churches today. The "acceptable way of
worshiping the true God is instituted by Himself, and so
limited by His own revealed will, that He may not be
worshiped according to the imaginations and devices of
men…or any other way not prescribed in the Holy
Scriptures" (1689 Baptist Confession of Faith,
ch. 22, para. 1).
Our goal
each Lord’s Day is to worship God "in spirit
and in truth" (John 4:24). We believe that
worship is primarily for believers who come together in
the bond of love to corporately praise and adore the
Lord who bought them and to receive instruction from the
Word. Unbelievers are welcome to attend and will hear
the Gospel of Christ preached and be encouraged to seek
the Lord.
The basic
elements of our worship include the observation of the
Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month (1 Cor.
11:26), the public reading of Scripture (1 Tim. 4:13),
prayer (Eph. 6:18), the congregational singing of
psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Eph. 5:19), along
with the preaching and teaching of the Word. |

| WE
SEEK TO BE SIMPLE |
|
|
Many
visitors have indicated that they are pleased that our
worship services are so simple. One visitor
further qualified his statement by commenting that his
church’s way of worship was so overwhelming (i.e.
dramatic lighting, theatrical sound system, etc.) that
he could hardly concentrate on worshiping the Lord.
Since our
goal is to worship God "in spirit and in
truth", another way we achieve this is to
provide a simple format in each service so the worshiper
can meet with God. As shepherds to the flock, we preach
Christ crucified, encourage a life of godliness and
devotion throughout the week, provide a place to
assemble, and lead the service in simplicity so that it
does not distract one from worshiping.
We believe
the Scriptural evidence demonstrates that true worship
is responding to glory of God. Therefore our goal is to
present Christ as revealed in the Word of God, and allow
the Holy Spirit to cause the response of worship in the
hearts of those in our congregation.
From what we
see week to week, there are many who are refreshed in
worship. We believe that is due, in part, to our simple
approach. We invite you to come worship the Lord with
us. Click here for directions. |

| OUR FELLOWSHIP
MEETINGS |
|
|
Our
Sunday evening and mid-week gatherings are a special time for prayer,
fellowship, and discussion of the things of God, in
order that we might redeem the
time as wise builders, working
diligently to build up one another in
Christ by the sovereign work of the
Spirit (Ephesians 5:15-21). Typically, we meet at a family home. Sunday
evening meetings are divided between the men and women,
and are constructed as a more informal fellowship time
in which to have prayer and edifying discussions on
Scripture or faith and practice. On Wednesday nights, we have a time of prayer and
supplication before the Lord. Then one of the elders
will lead a study of Scripture or other bible-based
material, having those present join
in discussion. It proves to be a most edifying time of
worship and helps to build up our local body. For more
information on time and location, click here.
